The Atlanta Falcons are going to try to pull what would be an upset.
The Atlanta Falcons are heading into a game this weekend against the Chicago Bears which not many folks are going to expect them to come away with a win.
Chicago gets back Caleb Williams from his hamstring injury that cost him the last three games, which obviously raises the outlook of what this Bears team can be. Chicago with Williams is one of the best teams in the NFC and a prime contender to get to the Super Bowl. Given this is where Atlanta wants to get, it's a great measuring stick to see where they are at.
Beyond just that though, this is a game the Falcons feel they can and should win, but it will not be easy. If there is one thing they need to do on the stat sheet that could win them the game, the goal from both the offense and defense should be clear.
Atlanta Absolutely MUST Win Turnover Battle vs. Bears This Week
As simple as it sounds, games are so often decided on whether or not a team wins the turnover battle or is efficient enough on both sides of the ball not only to protect possessions, but also take it away from the other team.
The Falcons have to make Williams feel the rust from missing almost a month of action and force him into making an early mistake, and on the other side of the coin, they need Michael Penix Jr. to protect the football and not to cough it up on the ground or on special teams either.
Ironically, the only turnover last week was the Tua Tagovailoa interception which officially ended things. The week prior in the beatdown of the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta did not turn the ball over at all. It's not a secret recipe and it's not the be all end all, but when you do not turn the ball over combined with taking it away from the other team, you will often win the game.
Penix has for the most part done a good job of that, and at times, Williams has struggled with giveaways. If the Falcons can expose his rust a little bit and come away with an early way to take the ball away, it could set the tone for the rest of the afternoon.
If they can do it multiple times and not turn it over themselves, then Atlanta is going to win the football game.
