The Atlanta Falcons have a special connection brewing.
The Atlanta Falcons showed some major signs of life this past week on Thursday Night Football with their first win of the season, and a huge part of that was the offense.
As great as the defense played, the return of Michael Penix Jr. as well as strong showings from the two biggest stars on the team in Bijan Robinson and Drake London. As for London, he has prided himself on being able to produce no matter who is playing quarterback given the position has been a revolving door since his arrival to Atlanta.
London gets it done by getting open no matter what, but there's no questioning the chemistry between him and Penix. Taking a look at some numbers, the wide receiver has been on an absolute tear the last seven games he has played with Penix at QB.
London Puts Up Huge Numbers with Penix Playing QB for Falcons
Atlanta invested in its playmakers this offseason, and while London is quarterback proof, he reaches another level once Penix is on the field. This is extremely encouraging for an offense who hopes to take the next step over the next month, and it's clear that the pair loves playing together.
On Thursday night, London was absolutely dominant with nearly 200 yards as well as receptions on half of the completions Penix threw all night. Having two young players who are on the same page like this duo clearly is when they can both be on the field together is the building block for a successful franchise.
While Penix may have to keep on proving it if he wants to stick around beyond this year for the Falcons, the fact that their best wide receiver does nothing but produce when this quarterback is on the field should tell the front office what they need to know.
This is a special duo right now, and the longer they get the chance to play together, the stronger the chemistry is going to get. If Penix can hold up his end of the bargain and both players can stay on the field, perhaps they could together propel Atlanta to the playoffs in 2026.
These stats should send a very clear message to the front office at what they should be watching for over the next couple months. If this connection stays strong and Atlanta keeps winning games, it could be what Penix needs to secure an extension.
