The Atlanta Falcons are not hitting the panic button.
The Atlanta Falcons are turning the page from a dreadful loss on Sunday and attempting to get back in the win column this week against the Chicago Bears following the defeat against the Baltimore Ravens.
After another injury for Michael Penix -- albeit one he should be back from this week -- and a gut-wrenching interception thrown by Tua Tagovailoa, it's clear Atlanta did not play up to its potential last week. It seems like they know that in the locker room as well though, and one of the most important leaders on the team made that very clear following the defeat.
Wide receiver Drake London fired fans up on Monday when he let them know there is much more left in the tank for this team.
Drake London Says Falcons "Nowhere Near" Ceiling Yet
"We're nowhere near our ceiling" London said. "So games like these, they hurt, but in the grand scheme of things we can go back and get into this facility and really work on the things that we need to and capitalize on those things so they won't ever happen again."
London went on to say the entire group of weapons including himself has a lot more to offer and that when they clean up the mistakes, they are going to be a problem for other teams to deal with. He himself had another big night in the loss to the Ravens with seven receptions for 118 yards, but clearly he thinks he could have done more.
In games where Penix has been on the field, London has been dominant with a combined 408 receiving yards in the last three weeks, though he does have yet to find the end zone this season as he continues to search for his first score. With that being said, he has impacted the game in a huge way for the offense, and if he can indeed find another gear, it will be a dangerous thing for the rest of the division.
The loss to Baltimore did make it clear that the Falcons need to find a way to dig deep and get more out of their best players, because it does feel like they are closer than they have been over the last few years to experiencing some legitimate success.
With a leader like London at the helm of things in terms of the skill position guys, it seems like Atlanta has an excellent chance of doing just that and getting back on the horse this week.
