The Atlanta Falcons are hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
The Atlanta Falcons are playing their second home game of the season on Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens, their third consecutive primetime game and potentially third straight victory as well.
After an absolutely atrocious start to the season over the first two weeks, Atlanta turned things around when Michael Penix Jr. returned to the lineup, and it's no coincidence that two wins have followed. Baltimore looks to be down their superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, or even in a best case he will be limited severely due to his ankle injury.
Regardless, the Falcons all of the sudden have the advantage at the QB position, something that would have never looked like it would be the case before the season looking at this matchup. Playing against Tyler Huntley or a Jackson who does not have his usual superpowers both would be a massive favor done to Atlanta, and it seems that will indeed be the case.
With the Falcons riding high both on offense and defense right now, the prospect of going up against a backup quarterback should give fans a whole lot of confidence that this is a game the home team should win. After an absolutely putrid performance in the only home game so far this season, Atlanta owes it to the Mercedes-Benz faithful to have a strong night and show what the potential is for the Kevin Stefanski era.
The last two weeks have been phenomenal, but fans have not had the chance to see it with their own eyes. If the Falcons can keep experiencing the same level of success both with running the football and more importantly especially against this team, stopping the run.
With or without Jackson, Baltimore is going to be trying to get Derrick Henry going from the opening whistle and if they can do that, the Ravens will have a legitimate chance to come away with this victory.
Should Atlanta be able to get the Ravens ground attack in poor spots and continue the elite level of rushing defense they have had to start the season, it could be a long night for Baltimore. In terms of a prediction, I'm going to choose to believe that will indeed be the case and stick with my Friday Roundtable prediction.
Falcons: 34, Ravens 16
A victory would bring Atlanta to 3-2 and set the tone that this is the team to beat in the NFC South. I think they get that done.
