The Atlanta Falcons need to quickly pivot and be ready for the Ravens coming to town.
The Atlanta Falcons have now won two games in a row in primetime following an emotional and satisfying victory on the road Monday Night over the New Orleans Saints, and the first two weeks of the year feel like a distant memory.
After looking about as bad as an NFL team can possibly look to fall to 0-2, the return of Michael Penix Jr. and subsequent breakout for the running game as well as continued great defense has this team looking like the ones to beat in the NFC South. This is a week to week league though, and anyone is capable of beating anyone on an off day.
In a continuously challenging portion of the schedule, Atlanta will host the Baltimore Ravens next week on Sunday Night Football for the third straight primetime game. After having a very long week to prepare for the Saints, it's now a quick turnaround before Baltimore arrives to town.
Falcons Have to Quickly Get Ready for Arrival of Ravens
Baltimore has a similar identity to Atlanta when it comes to running the ball and being able to stop the run, and this may be the best team the Falcons have faced to this point in the season. They must be ready to go, and without the mini bye rather than just five full days to prepare, the turnaround must be quick.
Everyone wants to enjoy victories in this league and the team earned a good bit of celebration for what they did on Monday night, but with Baltimore already having an extra day on them due to the schedule, there's no time to dwell on things. You are only as good as your next result in this league, and given the hole Atlanta put itself in the first two weeks of the season, they are still digging their way out of it.
At the end of the day, the Falcons need to quickly pivot from an enjoyable win to figuring out how they can get another, and give their fans a whole lot better of a showing than the first game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers.
If Atlanta cannot turn the page and start getting for the next week quickly, they will be behind the 8-ball. So while fans should savor every victory over a hated rival, inside the building, it should be right back to business by the time they arrive in on Tuesday.
