The Jags' head coach held court with the media on Friday, and provided insight into his team's matchup with Denver

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen addressed the media on Friday with a lot of optimism for his team's Week 2 showdown with the Denver Broncos.

The Jags (1-0) are coming off an impressive victory in the opening week of play in the National Football League. They defeated the Cleveland Browns, 34-10, behind four touchdown passes by quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Meanwhile, Denver (0-1) and quarterback Bo Nix struggled to get things flying at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 1, falling to their division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-10. Nix, coming off a banner season a year ago, threw for just 131 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

So, it was an uplifting win for one side and a depressing loss for the other, as the two teams are set to square off on Sunday. Both squads are projected to be potential playoff teams, and both won their respective divisions, Jacksonville in the AFC South and the Broncos in the AFC West, in 2025.

On Friday, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen addressed the media, and he says his team prepared well and looked sharp in practice this week. He fully expects them to come out with both guns blazing against the guys from the Mile High City.

"I thought we had one of our better Wednesday practices that I've been around in a while," Coen said. "I thought they came out with the right mindset, the right energy and juice at practice. Thought [Thursday] was solid. I would like to see us come out and be a little bit cleaner in some ways, but I did think on Wednesday, especially in setting the tone for the week."

"I think they were eager, ready to go, knowing what's kind of at stake in a lot of ways, and knowing what the opportunity is in front of us."

Jags are Wired for Sound

Coen says the team employed loud music this week during some play-calling exercises, in an attempt to prepare for the Broncos' home crowd noise. The almost-certain amplification of Empower Field have been known to throw off opponents; the Jags wanted to be able to drown out the decibel level in Denver... at least as much as possible.

"Every play, you're not going to hear the full [play call],'' Coen said. "It's just not probably possible. You have to be able to know the whole thing so well that maybe you only pick up bits and pieces, but you can go and execute. You know what the play is called, and you can go and do that.

"So appreciative of the guys taking some of that intentionality into the walkthrough settings and into practice when we've had the music blaring. Hopefully, it does help."

In terms of the team's injuries for this week's contest, six Jaguars - running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip), wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder), wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (thumb), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (knee), linebacker Foye Oluokun (wrist) and cornerback Christian Braswell (knee) are all expected to be available by kickoff.
