The Jacksonville Jaguars got off to a hot start against the Cleveland Browns, with starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence leading the way. Lawrence's four touchdowns give him 102 passing scores on his career.
The Jacksonville Jaguars' deep passing attack that was highlighted and praised throughout the offseason was on full display during Sunday's 34-10 victory, with starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence dominating the Cleveland Browns through the air.
Lawrence finished the game with 245 passing yards and four touchdowns, completing 18 of his 23 attempts.
His second touchdown of the game was a piece of personal history for Lawrence, who now has 102 career passing touchdowns and becomes the third Jaguar to surpass the century mark.
With the score, Lawrence became just one of four players in NFL history to record 100 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing scores before the age of 27, joining Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen.
Capping off a nine-play, 74-yard drive, Lawrence found rookie wideout Josh Cameron for a short score.
This was Cameron's first professional score, which allowed him to keep the caught ball, with a little help from Lawrence.
“I guess I gotta go get 200 now," Lawrence said after the game. "I’ll keep that one.”
Lawrence's continued growth alongside head coach Liam Coen is evident, as he carried over last year's success to this season's opener.
"I feel really comfortable, really confident with what we're doing," Lawrence said following the win.
Pro Football Network graded Lawrence as the best quarterback from Week 1, coming in at a strong 95.6 grade.
Now, Lawrence and the Jaguars will take on the Denver Broncos and Sean Payton's high-octane defense, which should be a good test for Jacksonville this Sunday.
Last season, Lawrence walked into Denver and ended the Broncos' ten-game win streak, finding success against one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Like Week 1, Lawrence accounted for four touchdowns, slinging three through the air and using his legs for another.
Breakout wide receiver Parker Washington had one of his biggest games of the season, hauling in six receptions for 145 yards and a score.
On Sunday, Washington was the game's leading scorer, catching five balls for 83 yards and a score.
Not only did Lawrence continue his late-season stretch of dominating play, but the Jaguars picked up a signature win heading into the playoffs.
If Lawrence can replicate this success against Denver in Week 2, the Jaguars will pick up a momentum-boosting victory ahead of a difficult stretch on their schedule.
Additionally, Lawrence will continue to look like a dark horse MVP candidate, looking to join Newton, Allen, and Jackson on another historical NFL list.
Jacksonville takes on the Broncos next Sunday at 4:05 p.m. as the team looks to get an early road victory.
