Bhayshul Tuten Continues to Make Jaguars Look Like Geniuses

Running back Bhayshul Tuten continues to prove the Jaguars made the right decision by entrusting him with the RB1 job.

Running back Bhayshul Tuten continues to make the Jacksonville Jaguars look like geniuses with each passing week.

There was plenty of doubt and dismissal of the Jaguars as legitimate Super Bowl contenders heading into this season. Despite a stellar 13-4 record a year ago, many assumed Jacksonville was just a one-year wonder and would regress this season.

For those who doubted this team, the skepticism overwhelmingly stemmed from a lack of belief in the Jaguars’ run game. More specifically, many believedTuten was not good enough to adequately replace Travis Etienne as RB1.

Despite all the chatter that Jacksonville needed to do more to replace Etienne, the organization had faith its second-year back could handle the job.

Tuten has proven the Jaguars were right to believe in him. Through the first seven weeks, the 2025 fourth-round pick was PFF’s highest-graded RB with an overall grade of 90.6.

That grade should go up after another outstanding performance on Sunday in Jacksonville’s 42-7 steamrolling of the Indianapolis Colts.

Terrific Game Against Colts

There were several Jaguars that had terrific showings against the Colts, but none shone as brightly as Tuten.

The 23-year-old ran the ball 16 times for 104 yards and a beautiful 39-yard touchdown. Tuten continues to be a weapon in the passing game as well, catching two of Trevor Lawrence’s 10 completions for 55 yards, including a 25-yard TD.

It was Tuten’s second straight game with two touchdowns. He now has three rushing and three receiving scores this season, and could have a few more.

Tuten has already had three touchdowns this season called back due to penalty.

Against the Colts on Sunday, Tuten became the first player in Jaguars history to have 100+ rushing yards, 50+ receiving yards, and both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game.

Not even the great Fred Taylor was able to accomplish that feat.

Tuten Is A Complete Back

Heading into the season, Tuten was known for his game-breaking speed, but he has proven that he is a complete back.

Before Sunday, Tuten’s longest run of the season was only 20 yards. He has shown he can run between the tackles, churn out tough yards, and keep the chains moving.

On Sunday, he was able to show his elite speed and remind everyone that nobody is catching him once he gets into the open field.

Final Thoughts

Tuten has not only replaced Etienne’s production, but he has also helped Jacksonville’s rushing attack reach a new level.

Whether as a runner or receiver, Tuten has greatly exceeded expectations this season and has made those who doubted him look foolish.

With Tuten leading the way, the Jaguars’ offense is not only lethal, but balanced.

The Jaguars have proven they are not a one-year wonder and belong among the NFL’s elite teams.

If Jacksonville finally reaches the franchise’s first Super Bowl this season, Tuten and the team’s confidence in him will be big reasons why.
