Rejecting complacency after a top-ten scoring season, Jacksonville’s offensive coordinator demands relentless growth, vowing to attack every weakness even if the team is hanging fifty points on opponents.
Grant Udinski is never going to be content with the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense.
The Jaguars' offensive coordinator, entering his second year with the team, was asked if he was unhappy with the run game during the first day of mandatory minicamp. Udinski was quick to respond that he's looking for improvement not only in the run game but in the entire offense.
"No matter what we're doing or what the outcome was, we're probably never going to be content with 30 points, 40 points, 50 points...there's always going to be so many areas of improvement," Udinski responded.
He also spoke about having realistic expectations, and that expecting perfection leads to "disaster." Udinski says that, while he knows the offense will never be "perfect," they will always be looking to identify things that can be improved upon, no matter the results.
"If there's something we can improve on, we're going to attack the improvement, and that's going to be our focus, whether we're scoring 50 points or we're scoring zero points. So, we're attacking the process every day," the 30-year-old coordinator continued.
He finished by saying both the players and coaches are on the same page when it comes to striving towards continually getting better.
"We aren't content with where we were because we know where there's room for growth."
Perfect Mindset For A Coach
Always looking for ways to get better is the perfect mindset for a coach. Even when things are going well, and the team is both performing well and winning, there will always be areas that need some fine-tuning.
Udinski understands this, and despite the Jaguars' success last season, he knows they can be even better this year. With the top-end talent Jacksonville's offense will be fielding in 2026, expectations are higher than they've been in a very long time.
Udinski's offense ranked 11th in yards per game and sixth in scoring in 2025. Now that he has a blueprint for success, he can identify the specific parts of the offense that can be better, whether it's protection, running the ball, or areas of the pass game.
Final Thoughts
It's easy to see why Udinski is on a fast track towards becoming an NFL head coach. His combination of being one of the brightest offensive minds in the league and determination to always improve will be highly sought after by any franchise needing a new HC.
For now, Udinski is charged with taking the Jaguars' offense to an even higher level. If they can reach it, the Jaguars have a real chance to win the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl.
Now we know that, no matter how great the offense looks on game days, Udinski and the players will still be looking for ways to be even greater.
