The Jacksonville Jaguars head across the pond to London as a relatively healthy team, while the Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with injuries to several key players.
It is good to be the Jacksonville Jaguars right now.
The Jaguars are off to an impressive 3-1 start and are coming off back-to-back wins over two of the AFC’s top teams. They dominated the defending conference champion New England Patriots at home 35-6 in Week 3 and then went on the road and pulled out a hard-fought victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jacksonville’s daunting early-season schedule continues this week as the team heads to London for back-to-back “home” games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans. If the Jaguars can earn at least a split of these next games, they will be sitting at an impressive 4-2 with the most difficult part of their schedule already behind them.
Not only are the Jaguars playing about as well as any other team in the NFL, but they are also a very healthy team after the season’s first four weeks.
Jacksonville’s injury report on Wednesday listed only one player who was unable to practice. The Jaguars are hoping to have all hands on deck for Sunday’s showdown with the Eagles.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are limping into Tottenham Hotspur Stadium not only coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where they blew a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, but also dealing with significant injuries to several key players.
To make matters worse for the Eagles, Hall of Fame right tackle suddenly and shockingly announced his retirement on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Philadelphia traded two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens for a pair of draft picks. Jurgens was forced to move to left guard after Landon Dickerson was placed on IR earlier this season.
Needless to say, the Jaguars will be facing an Eagles squad that is nowhere close to full strength.
Jaguars Wednesday Injury Report
Jacksonville's Wednesday injury report is very crowded, but only one of the injured players was unable to practice.
Safety Eric Murray did not participate after being forced to exit last Sunday's victory over the Bengals with a concussion. Time will tell if Murray can make it all the way through concussion protocol before the Jaguars' contest against the Eagles.
Eight players are still at less than 100% for the first practice of the week, but were able to get in a limited practice.
They are CB Montaric Brown, who missed last week with a hamstring injury, DT DaVon Hamilton (foot), LT Anton Harrison (elbow), EDGE Josh Hines-Allen (groin), CBs Jarrian Jones (foot), Jourdan Lewis (hamstring), and newly signed Jaylon Jones (hamstring), and finally RT Cole Van Lanen (knee).
RB LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip) and WR Jakobi Meyers (thumb) were both listed as full participants.
Eagles' Report
The Eagles report tells a much different story, with many vital players unlikely to suit up on Sunday.
Superstar running back Saquon Barkley is likely to miss Sunday's game with a hamstring injury suffered early against the Rams.
Star WR DeVonta Smith is also expected to miss the game with his own hamstring ailment. Sunday would be his second straight game on the sidelines.
Linebackers Jihaad Campbell (knee) and Jonathan Greenard (ankle), WR Marquise Brown (ankle), S Marcus Epps (groin), and C Drew Kendall (knee) also didn't practice on Wednesday.
CB Quinyon Mitchell (knee), T Fred Johnson (knee), TE Dallas Goedert (knee), and LB Zack Baun (concussion) were all limited.
We know more as the week progresses about which, if any, of the injured players has a chance at suiting up on Sunday.
