With Cameron Jordan remaining in New Orleans, Jacksonville must pivot to veterans like Jadeveon Clowney or Joey Bosa to bolster their thin rotation behind two starters.

The Jacksonville Jaguars now have one less option available to help their pass rush.

Cameron Jordan, one of the top remaining edge rushers on the free agent market, has opted to stay with the New Orleans Saints. The 2026 season will be Jordan's 16th in the NFL, all of which he has played for New Orleans.

Jordan, who will turn 37 in July, could have been the answer to the Jaguars' lack of premium pass rushers behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker. Jacksonville's depth at edge rusher has been questioned throughout the offseason, with fourth-round pick Wesley Williams the only notable addition to the group.

In Jordan, the Jaguars would have been getting a highly productive edge rusher. His 132 career sacks rank second among active players (Von Miller, 138.5). Not only is Jordan excellent at getting to the quarterback, but he is also one of the best run defenders in the NFL. His 82.1 run-defense grade from PFF was fourth out of 115 qualified edge rushers.

Despite his advanced age, Jordan showed last season that he still has plenty left in the tank, recording 10.5 sacks. He has also proven to be remarkably durable over his career. Since being the Saints' first-round pick in 2011, Jordan has only missed two regular season games in his illustrious 15-year career.

Top Available Pass Rushers

With Jordan off the board, Jacksonville still has a few quality options to address their pass-rushing depth, should they choose to do so.

The top available options for the Jaguars would undoubtedly be Jadeveon Clowney and Joey Bosa. Clowney had 8.5 sacks last season and, like Jordan, is still an excellent defender against the run.

Bosa also has remained productive, notching five sacks, 42 QB pressures, and five forced fumbles in 2025.

Clowney is 33 years old, while Bosa is 31. Both players would likely be available on one-year deals without breaking the bank.

Jacksonville has also been named the "best fit" for free agent linebacker Bobby Wagner, whose Hall of Fame career has shown no signs of slowing down. Wagner could provide the Jaguars with some extra pass-rush juice from the linebacker position. He recorded 4.5 sacks in 2025 for the Washington Commanders.

Final Thoughts

Although Jacksonville's defense looks to be one of the NFL's best again in 2026, the lack of a dependable pass-rusher behind Hines-Allen and Walker could be its weakness.

Cam Jordan would have been a terrific addition to the Jags' defense. His combination of being a double-digit sack artist and stout run defender could have added another level to an already-strong defense.

Now that Jordan is no longer an option, should the Jaguars attempt to sign either Clowney or Bosa? You can never have too many pass rushers. The Jaguars would be even better by adding another one.

For a team that already has Super Bowl potential, the Jaguars can still get better.
