Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has annual playoff incentives in his contract. He’ll have to wait another year for his next chance at the extra money.
The 2025 season came to a quick end for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in their 27-24 loss in the AFC Wild-Card round against the Buffalo Bills. After a 13-4 season and an AFC South title, Jacksonville’s hopes of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy this season are officially over.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence went 18-of-30 for 207 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, the second coming in the final minute off a tipped pass that ends Jacksonville’s season.
The loss on Sunday also ended Lawrence's chances of cashing in on playoff incentives.
Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million extension in 2024. In addition to his salary and signing bonuses, Lawrence has annual incentives that could net him an additional $1.5 million.
Lawrence would earn $500,000 if he plays in 60 percent of the regular-season snaps and the Jaguars win the AFC Championship Game. He would net an additional $1 million if the Jaguars go on to win the Super Bowl.
That money is now gone for 2025, but he’ll have another shot in 2026.
Lawrence isn’t exactly hurting financially. He is set to make $37.5 million in total compensation for 2026, with $37 million guaranteed. That includes a $35 million option bonus, a $2 million base salary and a $500,000 workout bonus.
The fifth-year starter is also already guaranteed $29 million for 2027. That’s $66 million guaranteed over the next two seasons. The full $35 million option bonus becomes guaranteed on the fifth day of the league's financial calendar in 2026, which begins March 11.
If Lawrence is on the roster on the fifth day of the 2027 League Year, his $35 million option bonus for 2028 will be fully guaranteed. It is currently guaranteed for injury only.
So, while an extra $1.5 million and a Super Bowl title this season would have been nice, Lawrence still has plenty of money rolling in. And he gets another chance at a Super Bowl ring and that $1.5 million next season.
