The Jaguars may have to take on the Baltimore Ravens Thursday night without two of their best and most important players.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a golden opportunity to pick up another critical win over an AFC foe when they go on the road to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
The Ravens were expected to be one of the NFL’s top Super Bowl contenders this season, but things haven’t worked out that way. Baltimore is 4-4 and currently in last place in the AFC North.
Not only has the team underachieved, but two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson is likely out for the season with a thumb injury suffered on the offense’s first snap against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.
His backup, Tyler “Snoop” Huntley, also suffered a season-ending turf toe injury against the Bills.
That leaves third-string Joe Fagnano to start against Jacksonville on Thursday. Fagnano was also injured against Buffalo, but has been practicing with a brace on his ankle and should be ready to play.
The Jaguars are catching a huge break in what looked like one of the NFL’s marquee matchups when the schedule was released.
Of course, Jacksonville has its own injuries to worry about on Thursday.
2 Of Jaguars’ Best Players Iffy For Thursday
Unfortunately for the Jaguars, two of their best players are iffy for Thursday’s matchup against the Ravens.
Edge rusher Travon Walker is officially listed as questionable with a rib injury. Walker was able to get in limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday after not practicing on Monday.
The limited practices give Walker a decent chance of playing on Thursday, but he will likely be less than 100%.
Unfortunately for Jacksonville, things look less optimistic for running back Bhayshul Tuten’s chances of suiting up against Baltimore.
Tuten is coming off a monster game against the Indianapolis Colts, where he became the first player in team history to have 100+ rushing yards, 50+ receiving yards, and both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game.
Dealing with both ankle and foot injuries, Tuten has been unable to practice all week. Though he is officially listed as questionable, not practicing in any capacity is a bad sign for any player’s availability.
The Jaguars will also be without standout defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton and starting safety Eric Murray, who both suffered season-ending injuries against the Colts last week.
On a positive note, Jacksonville will be getting back its other starting safety, Antonio Johnson, this week. Johnson missed the Colts game with an ankle injury, but has no designation for Thursday.
Also carrying no injury designations are WR Jakobi Meyers, CB Jarrian Jones, and RG Ezra Cleveland, who were all on the injury report earlier this week.
