The Jaguars take on a wounded Eagles’ team in London who will be without several top players.
The Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London at 9:30 AM EST.
The matchup features two teams that started the season with Super Bowl aspirations. The Eagles sit at 2-2 on the season and are limping into London with several key players set to miss the game due to injuries.
Philadelphia is also coming into Week 5 on the heels of a devastating loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles were in control of the game before blowing a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter to fall 24-20.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, are coming into Week 5 flying high. Jacksonville has back-to-back wins over AFC powerhouses
The Jaguars made easy work of the New England Patriots in Week 3, dominating last season’s conference champions 35-6 at EverBank Stadium before going on the road and defeating the Cincinnati Bengals last week 22-17.
The Jaguars have started the season 3-1 and enter the contest as strong 7.5-point favorites.
Eagles Very Shorthanded
The Eagles roll into London as a very shorthanded team.
Superstar running back Saquon Barkley is out after injuring his hamstring against the Rams. His backup, Tank Bigsby, is also on injured reserve, leaving Will Shipley as the only healthy running back before the team signed RBs Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
The Eagles will also be without star WR DeVonta Smith, who is out for a second straight game. Also out are WR Hollywood Brown, S Marcus Epps, and OL Drew Kendall. Star OLB Jonathan Greenard is questionable after not practicing all week.
To make the job even tougher for Philly, the Eagles are dealing with the sudden retirement of Hall of Fame RT Lane Johnson and the trade of two-time Pro Bowl C Cam Jurgens on Wednesday.
The Eagles’ offense has struggled mightily this season, especially the passing game. Philly has also been atrocious on third down, including going 0-for-12 against the Rams.
Jaguars On A Roll
Meanwhile, the Jaguars are on a roll through the season’s first month.
They are 3-1 and have established themselves as one of the NFL’s elite teams. Jacksonville boasts a lethal offense and a smothering defense that ranks second in the league against the run and in points allowed.
QB Trevor Lawrence is playing at an MVP level, and Bhayshul Tuten is PFF’s second-highest-graded running back.
Travis Hunter is becoming one of the top cornerbacks in the league and has turned in back-to-back career-best performances.
If Jacksonville can continue playing at the same level it has shown over the last two, weeks, it will be extremely difficult for a depleted Eagles’ team to keep up.
