If Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski leaves for a head coaching job, these three names could be in play to replace him.

After just one season, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen may have to find a replacement for his offensive coordinator.

Grant Udinski, who came over from the Minnesota Vikings to join Coen and the Jaguars, has now interviewed twice with the Cleveland Browns for their open head coach position and is viewed by some as the favorite to land the job. If he does, he would be the youngest head coach in NFL history, having just turned 30 on Jan. 12.

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay was about two weeks shy of his 31st birthday when he was hired in 2017.

If Udinski leaves for Cleveland, who are some potential candidates to replace him as Coen’s offensive coordinator? Here are three names.

Jaguars pass game coordinator Shane Waldron

A promotion for Waldron feels like the easy choice. Waldron served as the pass game coordinator for Coen in 2025 after spending the previous four seasons as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks (2021-2023) and Chicago Bears (2024).

Waldron and Coen have history together. The two worked together from 2018-2020 under McVay with the Rams. Waldron was the pass game coordinator; Coen was an assistant wide receivers coach (2918-2019) and assistant quarterbacks coach (2020).

While there would be some worry with Waldron, considering his offenses in Seattle and Chicago weren’t very effective -- Chicago’s offense ranked 30th when he was fired nine games into the 2024 season -- this would still be Coen’s offense and he would retain play-calling duties.

But having Waldron's experience and their history together would make this an easy move for Coen if we cross that bridge.

Buccaneers offensive line coach/run game coordinator Kevin Carberry

Coen had interest in Carberry last year after he became head coach. The Jaguars wanted to interview Carberry for a similar role as he has with the Buccaneers, but the request was blocked by Tampa Bay.

This time, the Jaguars would have an easier time getting Carberry on their staff if they want to, as he would get the role of offensive coordinator.

Carberry worked with Coen in both Los Angeles and Tampa Bay. Carberry has coached the offensive line for multiple franchises and was promoted to run game coordinator in 2025, after the Jaguars tried poaching him. With Waldron overseeing the pass game, Carberry could oversee the run game and the offense as a whole.

Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase

Scheelhaase is also in the mix to interview for the Browns' head-coach opening. If he doesn’t get it, the door could be open for him to become an offensive coordinator elsewhere. The Rams still have Mike LaFleur in the role and McVay calls the plays.

Again, Coen would still call plays, but Scheelhaase would be able to take that next step and have a year as a non-play-calling coordinator and potentially leverage that into a head-coach job in 2027.

Scheelhaase coached running backs and receivers at Illinois and Iowa State, and was the run game coordinator in 2022 and offensive coordinator in 2023 for the Cyclones before joining McVay and the Rams in 2024 as an offensive assistant and passing game specialist.

Given his pass-game experience, he and Coen could work even more wonders with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, helping him to build on the best season of his career.
