Jakobi Meyers Talks About How Jags Belief Helped Him this Season cover image

Jakobi Meyers just signed a huge long-term contract with the Jaguars for $60 million, and discussed how playing in Jacksonville has improved his play.

As we reported a few days ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to a three-year, $60 million contract.

Meyers has had a productive season, which is why the Jags decided to re-sign him for the next three years.

Meyers is grateful for his new beginning in Jacksonville.

“I probably haven’t had this much belief behind me in a long time. I played a lot of football with a lot of hate and anger and just to be out there and play for people who believe in you and prove them right, it’s a whole different feeling,” Meyers said.

Meyers originally entered the NFL in 2019 as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots, where he spent four seasons (2019-22) before joining the Las Vegas Raiders (2023-25) in free agency.

His career statistics include 453 receptions for 5,299 yards and 23 touchdowns in 104 games (80 starts). He also has totaled 15 carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns. Meyers completed six of seven passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jaguars gave up fourth- and sixth-round picks for Meyers and got a reliable receiver. Meyers posted his first career 1,000-receiving yard season last year in Vegas and followed it up with 707 yards this season, 355 of which were in six games with the Jaguars. His tenure in Jacksonville has also coincided with a 5-1 run for the team, which leads the AFC South with a 10-4 record.

Meyers has played an important part in the resurgence of this Jacksonville offense and has breathed new life into this offense that at times struggled but now they are on the cusp of winning their division and perhaps the No. 1 spot in the AFC overall if they manage to pull off the upset against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

It must feel good for Meyers to know, for the first time in a long time, he is actually on a contending team, which he contributes to.

When this team needed a veteran to step up on offense, Meyers did it, and now not only has he secured a new contract, but he has also found a home in Jacksonville.

Both parties seem to be happy about it.
