Another endorsement from a strong source says that the Jaguars' offense will be lethal this upcoming season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars get their first taste of preseason football today at 4:00 p.m., taking on the New Orleans Saints.
After two joint practices with the Saints, where longtime running back Travis Etienne lined up against Jacksonville for the first time, the Jaguars are looking to gain some valuable in-game reps.
While it remains to be seen if the Jaguars' starters will play at all, the offensive unit has had a very strong training camp.
With budding talents like Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. showing major improvements, many analysts have picked starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence as a dark-horse MVP Candidate for the upcoming season.
CBS Sports Senior NFL Columnist Pete Prisco talked about Jacksonville's potential on the offensive side of the ball on Thursday.
"I think the Jaguars passing game is going to be explosive," Prisco said on 1010 XL Jacksonville Sports Radio. "I think they're going to be really goof throwing the football."
It all starts with the level of play from Lawrence, who had his most productive and efficient NFL season of his career under Liam Coen last season.
For Lawrence, who finished top-five in MVP voting last season, he has a real opportunity to enter bonafide top-10 quarterback in the league discussions going forward with another strong year.
In the final six games of the regular season, Lawrence threw for 15 touchdowns and just one interception while leading his team into the playoffs on an eight-game win streak.
Lawrence also showed real dual-threat ability with his legs, rushing for a career-high 359 yards and shattering his previous rushing touchdown mark of five with nine last season.
This part of his game going forward will be crucial as the team moves into the post-Travis Etienne era, balancing the workload between Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez Jr.
He also has plenty of firepower on the outside, with Washington looking "unguardable" in training camp and Thomas looking like his rookie-year self.
Washington, a former sixth-round draft pick, burst onto the scene last season for a banged up Jacksonville receiving room.
After recording 58 receptions for 847 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2025, he has carried this momentum into training camp, looking like one of the most dynamic players on the offense.
For Thomas, who experienced a sophomore slump last season, the growing chemistry between he and Lawrence has been evident, with Coen frequently mentioning the extra work the pair has put in together throughout the offseason.
In early August, 92.5 FM Jaguars Host Rick Ballou said that Thomas looks "even better" than he did in his rookie campaign, where he led all first-years in receiving yards (1,282) and touchdowns (10), beating out his former LSU teammate, Malik Nabers.
The confirmation of Travis Hunter's two-way plan going forward adds another element to the offense, as Coen has talked about the potential of packaging the former Heisman winner in on certain formations.
This will allow Hunter to stay fresh, while also giving opposing defenses another deep speed threat to worry about.
Expect Jacksonville's offense to take another step forward this upcoming year.
