The New York Jets aren't getting much confidence placed in them heading into Week 5.
The New York Jets will be hosting the Cleveland Browns this weekend, with the game featuring two teams going in very different directions.
After winning in the opening week of the NFL season, the Jets have come back down to earth, dropping three games in a row. On the flip side, the Browns have won three straight games entering this matchup, despite them losing in Week 1 of the season.
Both sides iwll be trying to grab this game for different reasons, but the Jets may be coming in with a sense of desperation. New York is looking to avoid dropping to 1-4 on the season, falling even further behind in the standings.
But the Jets will have to earn this win without some key players due to injury, including star running back Breece Hall. Hall missed the team's game last week against the Chicago Bears, and the offense couldn't muster much.
Entering the contest, NFL analysts Gary Davenport, Brad Gagnon, Kris Knox, Moe Moton, Brent Sobleski, Wes O'Donnell, and Ian Hanford of Bleacher Report all made picks for the game this weekend. Within the predictions, only one of the seven went with the Jets to take down the Browns in the game.
O'Donnell was the only member of the experts to take New York, betting on the fact that the game is being played at home. While the Browns are 3-1 on the year, they haven't exactly proven themselves to be a top-tier team just yet.
Without Hall in the game, there will be all sorts of pressure on veteran quarterback Geno Smith to perform at a high level. After a solid game from Smith two weeks ago, he struggled against the Bears without a running game.
Smith is going to have to carry the load for the Jets in this contest, going up against a tough Browns defensive unit. But the veteran has been doubted before over his career, and he has responded accordingly at times.
The New York offensive line will need to hold up against the Browns, giving Smith time to throw the ball to his receivers. If this can happen, the Jets would at least have a decent chance to steal this game from the Browns.
Overall, it could be tough sledding for the Jets against Cleveland, even with the game being played at MetLfe Stadium. But this team believes that they can turn the season around, starting this week against the Browns.
