The New York Jets have needed the production from the wideout this season.

The New York Jets may only be 2-3 on the year so far, but this team has looked much better than in previous seasons.

New York has been in every game this season, having a chance to win or get back in control of the contest. The Jets have been extremely competitive so far, and this team feels like it is truly building something under head coach Aaron Glenn.

The defense has helped carry New York this season, giving the team a major boost on the field. The Jets want to pride themselves on the defensive side of the ball, and this overall helps the team win more games.

But the offense has carried its own at times too, with quarterback Geno Smith playing at a high level this season. After the team traded for Smith over the offseason, there were real questions about the move, especially since he was a turnover machine last year.

However, Smith has taken care of the ball for the most part this year, getting it out quickly to his wide receivers. New York is led by star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, and he has delivered for this team.

But the emergence of Isaiah Williams has been massive for this team, giving Wilson a complementary piece on offense. Williams has caught 11 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown, but he has started to carve out a larger role in the offense for New York.

Due to his strong play to start the year, Williams was named the biggest surprise for the Jets by NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. Williams has given Smith another weapon to throw the ball to, opening the offense up even more.

The former undrafted free agent isn't the official No. 2 for the Jets on offense, but if he keeps this up, he could easily take over in that spot. The play from Williams has been nice to see for New York, and this team has been waiting for someone to step up like he has.

Having someone like Williams who can open the field up gives the Jets the chance to get more creative with the playbook, which can help everything. Williams has nice speed, and it has helped him be able to put himself into strong spots for Smith to find him this year.

There is still a long way to go this season, but so far, Williams has been a major piece for this team.
