Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Jets to take down the Patriots this week.
The New York Jets are looking to get back to a .500 record this week when they face off against the New England Patriots.
New York enters the game with a record of 2-3 on the season, coming off a big win over the Cleveland Browns last week. The Jets have been in position to win each week, which isn't something that this franchise has been able to say in recent years.
New England is 3-2 on the season, having won two straight games coming into this contest. If New York can get a win, it could help this group build more momentum for the rest of the year.
Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Jets entering the game with the Patriots:
1. Slow Down Drake Maye
After a very slow start to the season, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has gotten it together on the field for New England. Maye's resurgence has helped the Patriots get back on track, and the Jets will now try to slow him down.
New York's defense has carried this team so far, and they will be called upon once again in this game going up against Maye. The Patriots quarterback has been very turnover-prone this season except for the last two weeks, and the Jets will need to force some mistakes to win this game.
2. Geno Smith Continues Strong Start to Season
One reason why the Jets have been more competitive this year has been due to the play from starting quarterback Geno Smith. Smith hasn't lit the league on fire, but he has done just enough to give this team a chance to win each week.
The veteran signal-caller has thrown for 1,084 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions, which has been massive for the Jets. Against the Patriots, Smith will need to keep his strong play going, giving this team a chance to pull the upset against their rivals.
3. Braelon Allen Has Another Strong Game
With star running back Breece Hall out for this game against New England, the Jets will be counting on backup Braelon Allen again. Allen had a very good game against the Browns last week, rushing for 116 yards and one touchdown.
If Allen can get the rushing attack going strong again this week against the Patriots, it would put the Jets into a good place to win. Allen has a lot of talent, and without Hall playing, he has been given the opportunity to show what he can do for this Jets team.
