The New York Jets can't catch a break.

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Friday that Breece Hall and Adonai Mitchell will not play this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Hall has a quadriceps injury and Mitchell is dealing with a finger ailment.

Mitchell got hurt in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers. He has nine catches on the season for 123 yards.

Meanwhile, Hall got injured in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions. He has 163 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown this season.

The Jets beat the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 but have lost to the Packers, Lions and Chicago Bears since. New York has only four wins in the Glenn era.

In Week 4, Chicago had more first downs (34) than New York had offensive plays (32). The Bears controlled the ball so well against the Jets that Chicago linebacker Devin Bush got bored.

The Bears had 492 yards on offense. Their time of possession was 42:45.

Meanwhile, the Jets had only 157 yards on offense. Their time of possession was just 17:15.

New York ran only 32 plays compared to Chicago's 89. That is the largest play differential in a game since the Browns' first game returning to the NFL in 1999.

The numbers and lack of wins show that the Jets should fire Glenn today. However, since Glenn is close with Johnson, it won't happen.

Glenn's 4-17 record is the second-worst in franchise history in 21 games. Rich Kotite, who coached in 1995 and 1996, started 3-18 and finished 4-28.

The Browns are 3-1 in Year 1 of the Todd Monken era. Cleveland, like New York, was putrid last season, but it appears Monken has already changed the Browns' culture, something Glenn hasn't done.

Some people believe Glenn could be fired if New York loses to Cleveland this Sunday. However, that is not expected to happen because Glenn has a very close relationship with Jets owner Woody Johnson.

"[We have] very positive conversations," Glenn said. "We speak after the games all the time and he gives me his thoughts. I give him the rundown on how things go. I mean, that's the beauty of our relationship is being able to have open dialogue with each other, throwing everything on the table. There's also a trust factor there."

Glenn and Johnson's relationship dates back to 2000, when Johnson purchased the Jets and Glenn was a star cornerback.

"I'm fortunate to be able to have the relationship I do have with the owner of this football team," Glenn said. "He's one of the reasons why everybody -- players, everybody -- wants to do everything to bust their ass in practice to try to accumulate these wins because of how he operates with us."

To beat the Browns, QB Geno Smith has to continue to protect the ball and score more points. In his second stint with New York, Smith has 902 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. He's completing 72.6% of his passes. Those are good numbers.

However, the Jets are averaging just 19.0 points per game. That's 25th in the NFL.
