The New York Jets have to go back to the drawing board after this week.

The New York Jets fell short in their quest of taking down the New England Patriots this week, seeing their record drop to 2-4 on the season.

Despite the loss, the Jets did play competitive football against New England, keeping the game close throughout. But in the end, the Jets couldn't make the big play when it mattered most, leading to the loss.

New York will now try to move forward and learn from this game, taking any and all lessons that it can. The Jets have been in every game this season, having chances to win, and the team has looked better this season.

Head coach Aaron Glenn has this group competing each week, even if the wins haven't started to pile up yet. But the Jets want to eventually win more games, even if it may take some time to learn how to finish out contests.

After the loss to the Patriots, the Jets saw themselves fall in the new NFL power rankings from Bleacher Report this week. New York had been ranked as the No. 24 team, and following the loss, they are now ranked as the No. 25 squad.

The Jets didn't fall too far, likely because they did hold their own against the Patriots, but the loss was still a bummer. New York had wanted to make a big statement against their division rivals, but it wasn't meant to be this week.

In the game against the Patriots, quarterback Geno Smith finally saw his interception-less streak come to an end. Smith finished the game by throwing for 252 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

For the Jets to win games like this, Smith is going to have to play a little better, getting his guys into better spots. But the Patriots do have a tough decision, and New York was able to stay in the game due to its own defense.

New York forced multiple fumbles by New England, giving its offensive unit a chance to get back into the game. The offense just wasn't able to take advantage, and it saw them drop the game.

Next up for the Jets is a matchup at home against the winless Miami Dolphins, offering this team a chance to grab its third win of the season. If New York can take care of business against Miami, it could go a long way in helping this team build some real momentum.
