Jets HC Aaron Glenn Reassures Fanbase Ahead of 2026 Offseason cover image

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn reassured the fanbase on Friday by claiming he's "excited" for the offseason.

After an abysmal 2025 season for the New York Jets, it’s clear that the franchise’s focus has quickly shifted towards the offseason and how the front office will address the ongoing issues from this year.

When discussing how the 2025 season has transpired, head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Friday that he is “excited” for the upcoming offseason.

"This has not been the season we all wanted,” Glenn stated. “I understand that. But I’ll tell you, there are some things that I really liked about what we did, and some things we have to fix. But I'm excited about going into this game, moving into the offseason to look at this team and how we're going to get this team in a place where the fans are proud of and we're proud of."

Coming into the 2025 NFL season, the Jets were widely viewed as a team that could shock the football world. With Glenn entering the mix as the newest head coach, fans believed that he could turn New York’s defense into an elite unit with cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

However, this was far from the case.

The Jets kicked off the new season by losing their first seven games, as the defense failed to meet the high expectations set this past offseason. Through the seven-game stretch, New York allowed an average of 26.1 points per game, while also losing by an average margin of eight points.

In addition to the issues on defense, the offense became extremely volatile under quarterback Justin Fields, who would eventually be benched for veteran backup Tyrod Taylor.

Fields, who signed a two-year, $40-million deal with the organization this past offseason, finished his 2025 campaign with 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception in nine games played this season.

Luckily for the struggling franchise, there is a glimmer of hope heading into the offseason.

As of Friday, the Jets currently possess the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which could be used to select either Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza or Oregon’s Dante Moore.

General manager Darren Mougey’s fire sale during the trade deadline also gave the Jets an additional first-round pick in the upcoming draft, along with another second-round pick. With this much ammo, New York has a perfect opportunity this offseason to revamp both the offense and the defense before the 2026 season.
