Amid a blowout loss to Chicago, New York’s social media team sparked outrage by celebrating a modest rushing sequence while the offense sputtered and the defense collapsed.

The New York Jets didn't do much on offense. Of course, that might have had to do with the defense doing a little too much on the field against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The Jets gave up 34 first downs to the Bears, allowing Chicago to run 87 offensive plays and eat up over 45 minutes of game clock in New York's 23-12 loss in Week 4.

It wasn't like the Jets’ social media team had very much positive to speak of on Sunday, but they made a bizarre decision to post what they considered to be a highlight in the game.

At the start of the third quarter, the Jets gave running back Braelon Allen four carries which totaled 26 yards. While trailing 13-3, New York thought that was a great time to flex.

"4 straight plays, 26 yards (flexed biceps emoji)," the Jets posted on X.

Do what?

Jets fans weren't kind to the post in the comments. Bragging about gaining 6.5 yards per play went over poorly while the offense had managed to put up only a field goal previously.

The next three plays ended in a -5-yard rush by Allen, an 11-yard reception for Jelani Woods, and a sack of Geno Smith for -8 yards. Then New York punted the ball away.

New York would have a little more to celebrate in the second half, scoring a field goal and a  touchdown. But the Jets only had four possessions in the second half, and their lone possession in the fourth quarter lasted for 45 seconds.

In total, the Jets gained 157 total yards to the Bears' 492 yards of offense. New York's defense typically gets a fair share of the team's highlights, but penalties kept the team from celebrating Tyson Bagent interceptions.

Jets need to find something to be happy about

The loss to the Bears was deflating for the Jets. They were physically outmatched the entire contest at Soldier Field. It was a shock to see New York's defense be pushed around.

The offense didn’t have enough answers. Allen finished the day with 14 carries for 59 yards. Kenon Sadiq recorded no receptions but was targeted four times.

Isaiah Williams had the play of the day with a 58-yard touchdown reception.

New York will next play the 3-1 Cleveland Browns in Week 5. With a 1-3 record, the only thing that will change the vibes for the Jets will be a win.
