Jets Take QB Darian Mensah in New 2027 NFL Mock Draft

The New York Jets have looked much more competitive this season than in years past, with the team sitting with a 2-3 record on the year.

New York has had a chance to win each week this year, even in the losses, which isn't something that this franchise has been able to say previously. Part of this has been due to improved play from the quarterback position, giving the Jets some stability.

Veteran Geno Smith has done well this season for New York, giving the team an opportunity to win games. But Smith isn't the long-term answer for the Jets at the position, and this organization is likely to look elsewhere after the season.

New York is armed with three first-round draft picks for 2027, in what should be a loaded draft class. The 2027 class has plenty of quarterback options for the Jets to choose from, and this could give the franchise a boost going forward.

In a new 2027 NFL Mock Draft from Bleacher Report, the Jets use one of their first-round picks on a quarterback for the future. New York takes Miami quarterback Darian Mensah with the No. 9 pick, according to this mock draft.

Mensah has seen his draft stock rise fairly quickly this season due to his strong play with the Hurricanes. Through the first five games of the year, Mensah has thrown for 1,438 yards with 15 touchdowns and zero interceptions.

On the ground, Mensah has added 79 yards and two rushing touchdowns, showing his dual-threat ability. Mensah has taken the college football world by storm this season, and it has the NFL buzzing about him.

The Miami signal-caller is a strong player when pressured, and he can get around the pocket very well. This is exactly what NFL teams want to see from quarterbacks, and the Jets could land a true steal here.

Since the Jets have some playmakers on the roster already, Mensah could be in line to do some damage right away. This team has been building nicely under head coach Aaron Glenn, and all they are missing is a true franchise quarterback

Mensah could be that player for the Jets, using his strong football IQ to give this team a potential winner going forward. Overall, Mensah would be a good pick for this team, especially with New York having two other first-round picks to build around him.
