The New York Jets' offense in 2026 could look very similar to one of newly-hired offensive coordinator Frank Reich's past units.

With the 2026 NFL season right around the corner, New York Jets fans are excited to see how the organization’s offseason additions will look under head coach Aaron Glenn.

On offense, general manager Darren Mougey completely overhauled the unit in preparation for the upcoming season by acquiring veteran quarterback Geno Smith and selecting two key playmakers in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft: Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq and Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr. Now, with former Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers’ head coach Frank Reich taking over play calling duties for New York, the well-respected offensive mind has plenty of options on offense for next season.

While many fans were confused by the selection of Sadiq in round one, due to the franchise possessing 2025 second-round pick, Mason Taylor, Reich’s past lineups could provide clarity as to what the Jets’ offense could look like in 2026 and beyond.

Reich, after a successful two-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles as the team’s offensive coordinator, landed his first head coaching gig with the Colts back in 2018. And with star quarterback Andrew Luck retiring right before the 2019 season, Indianapolis had veteran Jacoby Brissett take over the reins of an offense that had multiple key weapons.

The Colts’ pass catchers during the 2019 season include a pair of stout wide receivers in T.Y. Hilton and Zach Pascal, while also featuring two prolific tight ends in Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron. While the stats of these players do not jump off the page, the group resembles what the Jets are building leading up to the 2026 season.

With Garrett Wilson being New York’s clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for next season, the 25-year-old is a perfect fit for the Hilton role on offense. To make matters more interesting, the selection of Cooper could be the answer to the Jets’ much-needed second wide receiver, with his skillset matching Pascal’s back in 2019. Both players have the ability to play in the slot and outside, but are terrific playmakers in space.

As for the tight end room, the stack of Sadiq and Taylor makes perfect sense when examining how Reich used Doyle and Ebron in 2019. Since Reich has stated that he wants to use Sadiq as a vertical threat, it’s fair to say that his role could be quite similar to Ebron’s with the Colts. This leaves Taylor as the primary tight end on offense, as most of his usage will likely come in the form of a blocker and short routes.

While the production may look different between the Jets and the Colts, this at least gives fans a solid baseline as to what each player’s role will be on offense in 2026.
