Here are three trade ideas for the New York Jets’ star running back Breece Hall.

After a brutal 0-5 start to the 2025 NFL season, the New York Jets are now in a position to focus on the future of the franchise.

One major discussion surrounding the struggling organization is the potential of general manager Darren Mougey trading star running back Breece Hall. The 24-year-old playmaker is one of the few bright spots for the Jets this season, as he’s recorded 351 rushing yards on 66 attempts, while also tallying 150 receiving yards through five games.

Unfortunately for Mougey, Hall is in his final year of his rookie contract, which puts the team in a tough spot moving forward. With the possibility of Hall hitting the free agent market next offseason, it makes perfect sense for the front office to receive some value for the young talent instead of allowing him to walk after the 2025 season.

Here are three potential trade ideas for Hall as we slowly approach the NFL Trade Deadline.

1. Chicago Bears

Jets Receive: 2026 Fourth-Round Pick (via LAR)
Bears Receive: Breece Hall, 2026 Sixth-Round Pick (via DEN)

It’s clear that the Bears need an established RB1 to help out second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and head coach Ben Johnson’s offensive efforts, as the franchise ranks 24th in rushing yards per game this season (102.3).

As the former offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, Johnson was able to produce one of the best rushing attacks in 2024 with the combination of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. However, this has not been the case while in Chicago. Former 2020 second-round pick D’Andre Swift is averaging 3.3 yards per carry this season, which means Johnson is craving a versatile rusher to help the offense in both the pass and run game.

If Bears’ general manager Ryan Poles manages to pull off a trade for Hall, he could cut Swift in the offseason and clear up $7 million in cap space to extend Hall if he produces with Chicago in 2025.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

Jets Receive: 2026 Fifth-Round Pick, 2027 Fifth-Round Pick
Chiefs Receive: Breece Hall

Another playoff-hopeful team that could use a lead back is the former AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite the franchise ranking 11th in rushing yards per game this season (120.0), head coach Andy Reid is in desperate need of a running back who can take over the run game. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is currently the team’s leading rusher with 190 yards on the ground, while both Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco have combined for just 327 rushing yards.

In order for the Chiefs to make a playoff appearance with a 2-3 record through five weeks, Reid must find a running back who can truly take this offense to the next level. Hall’s skill set as a talented playmaker in both the pass and run game would help Mahomes in his efforts to secure another ring this year.

3. Arizona Cardinals

Jets Receive: 2026 Fifth-Round Pick, 2027 Fifth-Round Pick
Cardinals Receive: Breece Hall

While the Cardinals would be a “wild card” team in the mix for Hall, it would make sense for the franchise to land a proven running back to assist their offense.

Arizona’s run game took a significant blow this season when veteran James Conner suffered a season-ending foot injury in week three. In addition to Conners, the Cardinals also placed Trey Benson on the IR, which has led head coach Jonathan Gannon to rely on both Michael Carter and Emari Demercado. Similar to the Chiefs, Arizona could find itself in a wild-card hunt if they are able to pick up momentum this season.

General manager Monti Ossenfort did an excellent job of improving the defense this offseason, so adding Hall into the mix would greatly benefit the offense and keep the franchise in the running for a potential playoff appearance.
