Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was seeing moving and throwing the ball for the first time since his surgery.

It’s been 100 days since Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, with ESPN reporting that the surgery also included the torn LCL. Mahomes’ season ended alongside the Chiefs’ playoff hopes for the first time since he joined the team in a Week 15 loss to AFC West rivals Los Angeles Chargers, and he quickly had the surgery performed by Dallas Cowboys' head team physician Dr. Dan Cooper back in December. Mahomes spoke in January for the first time since his surgery and indicated that he hopes to be back to open the season against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks – which will now start the season on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Now, Mahomes has shared encouraging social media posts to show progress in his recovery, as he posted a short clip on social media Wednesday of a training session that showed the quarterback dropping back and throwing the ball. It’s the first time that he’s been seen publicly doing so since the surgery. With it being 100 days since the surgery, the timing is significant and sits well with Mahomes’ hopes of being back in action for the 2026 season opener.

Here is the full story from Chiefs Roundtable writer Matt Wadleigh on the optimistic update that has fans rejuvenated for next season.
