Miami secures its defensive cornerstone with a $51.3 million extension, rewarding the All-Pro playmaker’s elite production and cementing his role as a long-term leader in South Beach.
Recently voted the seventh-best off-ball linebacker in the NFL by coaches, players and executives around the league, Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks now finally has his new deal.
The All-Pro backer and the Dolphins have reportedly agreed to a three-year, $51.3 million extension that will now make him the fifth-highest-paid stack-linebacker in the NFL, just ahead of Philadelphia Eagles defender Zack Baun in total contract value.
For more on the promise Miami made to the playmaking linebacker and how they fulfilled it, Dolphins Roundtable writer James Brizuela has a look at the new deal.
Brooks, who was drafted No. 27 overall by the Seattle Seahawks during the 2020 NFL Draft, joined the Dolphins in 2024 as a free agent. Since landing in South Beach, the linebacker has returned to his pre-ACL tear form piling up 143 combined tackles in 2024 and a league-leading 183 last year. He also added 3.5 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss in the process.
The do-it-all, second-level playmaker also received his first ever postseason honors, being named First-Team All-Pro for his stellar performance.
Brooks is now set to continue as the defensive cornerstone of the Dolphins' system and leader for the entire team.
Recently hired general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan stepped into his role in January of 2026. When he did, he highlighted a group of building block players. Brooks was named among others like running back Devon Achane and offensive linemen Patrick Paul and Aaron Brewer.
Now, that high praise has gone from potential lip service to a top-shelf contract at Brooks' position.
