After missing out on Jaelan Phillips in free agency, the Eagles pivoted to another star pass rusher.

The NFL draft dominated headlines through Friday, but there was a blockbuster trade finalized on Day 2 of the draft. A trade plus a $100 million dollar extension capped off a weeks-long pursuit by the franchise for their new star. The Philadelphia Eagles, after losing out on Jaelan Phillips, made an aggressive pivot to Jonathan Greenard to elevate their pass rush into an elite unit. On Friday, the Eagles made a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for the star linebacker and awarding a lucrative new deal. Philadelphia is sending two third rounders, No. 98 in 2025 and one next year, to the Vikings in exchange for the star. The Eagles also received a 2026 seventh round pick.

And Greenard is now inked to a four-year, $100 million extension with $50 million guaranteed. He passed his physical Friday night and already is assimilating in Philly, attending the Celtics-76ers playoff game. The deal came together after GM Howie Roseman and his office met following Day 1 of the draft and ultimately green lit the deal.

Here is the full story from Eagles Roundtable writer Jon Conahan on the shock blockbuster trade for Philly.

Greenard has 38 career sacks in six years in the league with the Houston Texans and in Minnesota. He had a 13.5 percent pressure rate last season, good for seventh-best in the league, despite a season-ending shoulder injury in 2025 that limited him to three sacks. However, he is one of six players to record 12-plus sacks in two of the last three seasons.

Here is the full story from Vikings Roundtable writer Joey Hickey on the stunner move and what the Eagles gain in Greenard.

Greenard was a studied target by Roseman and his office, and they’ve entirely revamped his edge group to now include Nolan Smith Jr., Jalyx Hunt, Arnold Ebiketie, and now Greenard as they chase another run back to the Super Bowl.
