The Minnesota Vikings are adding Jennings as a legitimate No. 3 option to bolster depth in their receiver room.
The San Francisco 49ers were unable to meet the demands of wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings have had a problem of depth at wide receiver. They solved that on Thursday when they agreed to terms with Jennings on a one-year deal that’s worth up to $13 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, which adds a proven No. 3 option behind stars Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Jennings will slot in now to replace Jalen Nailor, who departed to the Las Vegas Raiders back in March. Adam Thielen is no longer after retiring following his release. Then there was second-year option Tai Felton, who showed flashes but had less than 50 snaps on offense as a rookie. That led the Vikings to seek outside options. Jennings led the 49ers in receiving touchdowns despite a myriad of rib, ankle, and shoulder injuries in 2025. He caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns. It was a strong follow up to a 2024 campaign with 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Jennings also adds physicality as a blocker that will come in handy in the room.

After a hamstring injury and contract dispute kept him out of most of training camp last year, Jennings came back on a deal with incentives after a contract never transpired following his breakout year in 2024. He’ll now head to Minnesota after being emotional about leaving SF and will join a dangerous passing offense. Jennings adds valuable depth that raises that room’s floor and ceiling.
