This is a very dangerous game for the New York Giants.
The New York Giants looked fantastic in Week 1, throttling the Dallas Cowboys in a 28-20 victory in a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.
The Giants are 1-0, they're 1-0 in the NFC East and they definitely look much improved from last season.
Great.
Now, New York will have to head on the road to face a Los Angeles Rams team that many had pegged as a Super Bowl favorite going into the campaign. A Rams team that was just routed by the San Francisco 49ers in its season opener in Australia and will be in relative desperation mode Monday night.
One cannot even begin to describe just how dangerous this game will be for the Giants.
Yes, Myles Garrett will be sidelined for Los Angeles, which is a big break. But this matchup will also feature the return of Aaron Donald ... in LA.
Donald hasn't played in three years, and even then, it was clear there was a bit of a fall off. But he's still surely an impact player, and he will be running on jet fuel in this contest. So will the rest of the Rams defense.
No one viewed New York as a Super Bowl contender heading into 2026. The fact that the Giants beat the Cowboys did not come as a huge surprise, because people did anticipate improvement. But going into SoFi Stadium and beating the Rams is another story.
To be quite frank, New York would be in better shape had Los Angeles annihilated the 49ers in Week 1. Then, the Giants would suddenly become a trap game for the Rams. But now? Unless Matthew Stafford is really as cooked as he looked in Week 1, Big Blue will be facing the possibility of a buzzsaw.
Perhaps Los Angeles really isn't all that. Maybe everyone overlooked the possibility of Stafford and Davante Adams falling off a cliff, and maybe the Rams' defense is not quite as good as advertised ... especially sans Garrett.
In that case, maybe the Giants could walk into Hollywood and steal a win, much like they did against a heavily-favored Kurt Warner-led squad when the Rams still played in St. Louis back in 2002. Surely, some of you still remember that game. I know I do.
But I don't think there is a single Big Blue fan out there that will deny the obvious danger New York is facing here in Week 2.
