The New York Giants should have done a better job addressing this during the offseason.
Yes, it's getting tiring of harping on just how concerning the New York Giants' cornerback room is at the moment, but this is the type of thing that can derail a season.
Right now, the Giants have five cornerbacks who will likely get playing time in 2026: Paulson Adebo, Greg Newsome II, Deonte Banks, Colton Hood and Art Green.
The problem? None of those guys are inspiring any confidence at the moment, including $54 million man Adebo, who has labored in training camp.
New York lost Cor'Dale Flott — its top cornerback in 2025 — to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. It signed Newsome, who appears to be No. 1 on the depth chart right now, but whose career has been marked by inconsistency.
Banks is a former first-round bust who had a strong showing in the early stages of the offseason program but has been rather modest this summer.
Hood is a rookie with tremendous potential, but how much can you really expect out of a first-year cornerback?
Then, there is Green, who is definitely intriguing because of his size, but he is nothing more than a compelling depth piece at this juncture.

It's not like the Giants have great safeties, either.
Jevon Holland — who signed a $45 million deal with Big Blue in March 2025 — had a rough debut campaign in New York much like Adebo. He's a bounce-back candidate, but he has been mostly quiet in camp. Tyler Nubin might not be an NFL starter.
I will say that I loved the free-agent signing of Ar'Darius Washington, who was a very versatile piece for the Baltimore Ravens. He did, however, miss most of last season due to a torn Achilles, so there's that.
Dru Phillips is currently the starting nickelback, but I actually feel like Washington could supplant him at some point. Especially considering how subpar Phillips was for a significant portion of 2025.
It's becoming more and more obvious that New York didn't do enough to address its defensive backfield during the spring, specifically at cornerback.
Yes, it should be noted that undrafted rookie Thaddeus Dixon tore his Achilles right from the jump, which was actually a bigger blow than people wanted to admit at the time.
But the fact that the Giants were relying so heavily on a UDFA should tell you all you need to know about the state of their cornerback room.
Maybe things will get better as we get closer to Week 1, but right now, New York's cornerback situation appears fairly bleak. And while signing Trevon Diggs would help, it wouldn't entirely solve the problem.
