Could this sleeper defensive back make some noise in New York Giants training camp?
New York Giants training camp is officially open, meaning the position battles will commence.
We know that perhaps the most pivotal battle will be taking place at cornerback. Paulson Adebo is the No. 1, but all of Greg Newsome II, Deonte Banks and rookie Colton Hood will be jockeying for the No. 2 spot.
But could there be a sleeper in the midst for the Giants?
One potential name to watch is Art Green, who is preparing to enter his third NFL season after being signed by New York after being waived by the Denver Broncos in 2024 (Green was an undrafted rookie in 2023).
Green has played in a grand total of 20 games over his first two years with the Giants, logging 18 tackles and a forced fumble. The vast majority of his work has come on special teams, where he played in 74 percent of New York's snaps in 11 contests last season.
As a matter of fact, Green did not see a single defensive snap in 2025. He did take 46 defensive snaps in 2024, but that was still an incredibly minute number.

He also might have a chance to actually play a little bit in the secondary.
At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Green possesses elite size for the cornerback position. He also has very impressive speed.
The 26-year-old began his collegiate career at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas in 2018 before eventually making his way to Houston in 2020. It was there that Green carved out a significant role, specifically in his senior campaign when he registered 49 tackles, a couple of interceptions and eight passes defended to put himself on the NFL radar.
Green wasn't drafted, but the Giants saw enough talent in him to give him a chance in 2024, and now, with New York having lost UDFA Thaddeus Dixon due to a torn Achilles, he will have his best NFL opportunity yet.
To be quite frank, it shouldn't be difficult to make Big Blue's roster as a cornerback this season. They'll probably keep six, and with Adebo, Newsome, Banks, Hood and nickelback Dru Phillips appearing to be roster locks, Green should steal that sixth slot.
And who knows? With a strong camp and preseason, Green could find himself on the field more than anyone expected this coming fall.
