The New York Giants' concerns about Malik Nabers are still floating around.

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has certainly taken a lot of positive steps this summer. Nabers hasn't played since last September due to a torn ACL, and he is been taking his rehab slowly.

The good news? He didn't start the summer on the PUP list, and he looked very good in training camp. The bad news? Nabers still does not have a definitive return date.

The Giants will face the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener on Sept. 13, and Nabers' status remains up in the air.

He was asked about his potential availability for Week 1 on Monday, and Nabers provided a rather cryptic response.

"My mind is focused on playing the regular season. Playing whenever that is. Playing what[ever] team that is," Nabers said. "I'm going to be making sure that I'm ready to go out there and I'm healthy enough to play all four quarters and that nobody's got to make sure I'm not in on every play or they have to make sure I got enough snaps to play or my snaps are limited."

That answer has obviously stirred some concern about Nabers not being on the field against the Cowboys.

Should Nabers be sidelined versus Dallas, New York will be very thin at wide receiver. It already lost Calvin Austin III for the season due to a torn ACL of his own, and otherwise, the Giants don't have a ton of options.

New York signed Darnell Mooney in free agency (in addition to Austin) and selected Malachi Fields in the NFL Draft. It then circled back around to add Odell Beckham Jr. — who has made the 53-man roster — in June.

Darius Slayton had an awful season in 2025 and has not exactly made a good impression in training camp, so there doesn't appear to be much faith in him, either.

Of course, ensuring that Nabers is fully ready to play is the most important factor here. If he isn't prepared for Week 1, the Giants shouldn't allow him to take the field.

Hopefully, that is something New York will have to worry about. More than likely, Nabers is being intentionally coy. The season opener is still a couple of weeks away, so there really is no need for Nabers to give away his status now.

But that won't stop Big Blue fans from agonizing.
