The New York Giants tied the Washington Commanders in Week 5 of the NFL season.

The New York Giants ended Week 5 of the NFL season with one of the stranger results from the year.

New York and the Washington Commanders finished their game in a tie, with both teams making mistakes at the end of the contest. The two NFC East rivals will now move forward for the rest of the year with a tie in the standings, which could end up hurting them down the line.

Due to the tie, the Giants dropped down in a new edition of NFL Power Rankings from ESPN. New York came into Week 5 ranked at No. 17, but they now come in at No. 19 entering Week 6 of the season.

The Giants stormed back in the fourth quarter to tie the game, sending it to overtime. But the team just couldn't find a way to get the job done, and they now hold a record of 3-1-1 on the year.

One bright spot for New York despite the tie was the play from quarterback Jameis Winston, who looked good in second half of the Commanders game. Winston finished the game throwing for 326 yards with three touchdowns, throwing no interceptions.

The veteran signal-caller looked in complete command against Washington, picking apart the Commanders' defense. Winston has consistently seen ups and downs in his NFL career, and the Giants have gotten a little of everything this season.

But Winston does offer this team a good chance to win games now that starter Jaxson Dart is out for the season. If Winston can continue his strong play, New York could have a chance to get into the playoffs.

However, going forward, there is a clear weakness on this team, which is the defensive line, and it's caused all sorts of issues for this group this year. New York is ranked No. 25 in run defense this season, allowing 127.6 yards per game on the ground.

Additionally, the team is ranked 30th in yards allowed per rush, giving up 5.19 yards per attempt. This won't get the job done, especially for a team that is trying to get into the playoffs this season.

The Giants don't have that much depth to use, which could be a problem as the year goes on as well. But for now, New York will try to get ready for its upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints, with the Giants hosting the matchup.
