The New York Giants are in the hunt for an ideal quarterback solution following Jaxson Dart's injury.

There has been some speculation that New York could try to pull off a trade to acquire another signal-caller, but with the Giants short on draft capital as it is, that wouldn't be ideal.
New York could also explore the free-agent market for an answer, and it appears that the Giants may be closing in on a solution in that regard.
Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post has reported that the possibility of the Giants signing Jimmy Garoppolo are "very real," and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network has said he thinks Garoppolo would be interested.
This would be the perfect scenario for Big Blue. Garoppolo is a veteran quarterback with plenty of experience, and he wouldn't cost a draft pick.
Garoppolo had spent the last couple of years with the Los Angeles Rams serving as the backup to Matthew Stafford, but he is most known for his run as San Francisco 49ers quarterback from 2017 through 2022, which included a Super Bowl appearance during the 2019-20 campaign.
Obviously, the 34-year-old is not quite that player anymore, but he is still a serviceable option who would come very cheaply.
Garoppolo last started a game in 2024, when he went 27-for-41 with 334 yards, a couple of touchdowns and an interception. So perhaps he still has something left in the tank.
Let's face it: the Giants aren't going anywhere with Dart on the shelf. They probably weren't going to the playoffs even with a healthy Dart, but now that the former first-round pick is sidelined, their chances are basically zilch.
At this point, New York just needs to add some insurance at quarterback to guard against injury. Garoppolo would be a terrific candidate in that regard.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Justin Fields is another name that has been floated as a possibility, but again, that would require the Giants parting with a draft choice, which is not something New York should be aiming to do.
We'll see if the Giants are able to come to terms with Garoppolo soon.
New York will play host to the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Brian Daboll is now the Titans' offensive coordinator, so that should at least be somewhat intriguing.
