The New York Giants have gotten the full Jameis Winston experience so far this season.
The New York Giants are sitting with a record of 3-1 on the new season, holding first place in the NFC East.
Despite the team losing starting quarterback Jaxson Dary to injury, New York has been able to hold down the fort. Backup Jameis Winston has come in to replace Dart, and the team has gone 2-0 in his starts so far.
But while the Giants have been able to win games, the experience with Winston has gone all over the place. Winston has seen a lot of ups and downs in his NFL career, with the veteran signal-caller being known for his erratic performances on the field.
Sometimes Winston can look like one of the best quarterbacks in the league, while at other times, he looks like a turnover machine. New York has seen this play out in short order, with the team getting the full Winston experience through two games.
But in the last game against the Arizona Cardinals, Winston was able to do just enough to put the team in a position to win. The veteran finished the game by throwing for 250 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Winston was able to push the ball down the field, looking more comfortable in the Giants system. And due to his performance against Arizona, the veteran saw himself move up six spots in a quarterback ranking entering Week 5.
NFL.com analyst Nick Shook ranked all quarterbacks based on performance from a week ago, and Winston came in at No. 26. While this is still low, the veteran signal-caller was ranked dead last a week ago.
If Winston can continue to help get this offense working, the defense has been good enough to keep this team in games. The Giants are looking to get back to the playoffs, even with a backup like Winston leading the show.
Winston has the talent to help the Giants keep winning game, but he will need to limit the turnovers as the weeks go by. This could be tough, but the Giants coaching staff will try to work with him on this fact.
Overall, Winston's performance against the Cardinals does offer some hope for the rest of the season, with New York still getting the win. The Giants just need to keep stacking wins right now, building a solid record as the season goes on.
Next up for Winston and the Giants is a matchup against the Washington Commanders this weekend on the road.
