What is going on with Kayvon Thibodeaux and the New York Giants?

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Friday that the New York Giants were talking to the New Orleans Saints about a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade.

Shortly after Schultz's tweet went viral, Thibodeaux posted a video on his Instagram account from "The Fast and the Furious" movie showing a character saying "Goodbye."

However, according to Giants general manager Joe Schoen, Thibodeaux isn't going anywhere.

"No, nothing's changed," Schoen said Friday night. "I wish I could just put everything in the Twittersphere. There's no truth to that. We have not had any conversations today about Kayvon, that's not true."

Thibodeaux played in 10 games for the Giants last season. He had 2.5 sacks, 13 solo tackles, five tackles for loss and nine QB hits.

The Giants selected Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Thibodeaux enters next season with 23.5 career sacks, 86 solo tackles, 31 tackles for loss and 55 QB hits.

Thibodeaux had a great start to his NFL career, racking up 15.5 sacks in his first two seasons. For whatever reason, the Oregon product hasn't been dominant the past two seasons.

"Right now, Kayvon's going to be with us," Schoen said. "He played well. He is going into his fifth year and he's motivated and you can't have enough pass rushers. You really can't. So I'm proud of the development and the maturation of Kayvon and he's come a long way. And I expect big things out of him next year with that rotation."

The Giants drafted Arvell Reese on Day 1 of the 2026 draft. Reese had 10 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks for Ohio State last season. He was a First-Team Associated Press All-American, the Big Ten Conference LB of the Year and a First-Team All-Big Ten selection.

Reese lined up all over the field at Ohio State. He played 56% of his snaps at outside linebacker, 38% at inside linebacker and 6% at defensive back. He's a very versatile player.

The Giants traded Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals after Lawrence requested a trade. With Lawrence gone, Thibodeaux, Burns, Carter and Reese are the top players on defense.
