The New York Giants have been slammed with a devastating injury update.

The New York Giants defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 12-7 on Sunday afternoon, but not without an extreme cost.

During the second half, star edge rusher Brian Burns injured his knee and exited the game. He was in obvious pain, and while John Harbaugh was holding out hope afterward, it looks like the Giants have suffered the worst news imaginable.

ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported New York believes Burns suffered a torn ACL, which would obviously rule him out until next season.

Burns was already limited on Sunday due to a sprained ankle he suffered the week prior. He was able to gut it through the ankle injury, but this is certainly quite a bit different.

It's just the latest devastating news for a Giants team that put together a scintillating Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, only to see Jaxson Dart go down with a season-ending knee injury against the Los Angeles Rams a week later.

New York acquired Burns in a sign-and-trade deal with the Carolina Panthers in March 2024.

Burns registered 71 tackles, 8.5 sacks and eight passes defended during his debut campaign with Big Blue. He then racked up 67 tackles, 16.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, seven passes defended and 31 quarterback hits last year, establishing himself as one of the NFL's best pass rushers.

Alongside of Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux, Burns comprised what many felt would be one of the league's top pass rushes this season, but unfortunately, that hope has ended just three weeks into the campaign.

This might also change how the Giants view a potential Thibodeaux trade, as Thibodeaux will now step into a permanent starting role on the edge for the remainder of the season.

New York is 2-1 on the year and has a very easy upcoming schedule with games against the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders and New Orleans Saints, but with the Giants now without both Dart and Burns, things definitely become more complicated.

Perhaps the biggest concern for New York is how this injury will affect Burns heading into 2027, as it now seems pretty clear that the Giants won't be making any sort of legitimate playoff push this fall.

For now, New York can focus on monitoring the development from some of its younger players and hope that both Dart and Burns are able to return at full strength next September.

What a gigantic bummer for the G-Men.
