It's a strange experience watching Jordan Love play for the 2026 Green Bay Packers.

On one hand, he's made several incredible throws that only a few quarterbacks in NFL history have been capable of making. Love has elite arm talent, and when he's given time to throw the ball, he very well may be the most dangerous quarterback in the NFL — especially with serious deep threats like Christian Watson and Matthew Golden at his disposal.

The numbers from the first two games, despite Green Bay's 1-2 record, are interesting. In fact, some of these passing numbers suggest that the Packers should be 3-0 rather than trending toward being one of the worst teams in the league.

Packers fans have been clamoring for head coach Matt LaFleur to "let Love cook" for the past few seasons.

Perhaps this is what "cooking" looks like in Green Bay's kitchen.

In Week 3, Love leads the NFL in passing attempts and yards by a large margin. He's thrown 124 times in three games (about 41 per game) for 844 yards. The next closest quarterbacks to Love in terms of attempts are C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans and Tyler Shough of the New Orleans Saints. Shough was closest to Love in yardage with 662.

Of course, Love has the advantage in these numbers of having played on Thursday Night Football, if you want to call that an advantage, but the point here is that he's throwing the football a ton — which is what the people wanted.

Here's the first problem for Green Bay.

The Packers are throwing the ball a ton out of necessity. With Josh Jacobs sidelined on the commissioner's exempt list, Green Bay has gotten next to nothing out of its run game. 

MarShawn Lloyd has stayed healthy, but any burst or explosion as a runner seems to be lost. Kaleb Johnson is simply "a guy" who knows how to run the football, but he doesn't appear to be all that good at it at the NFL level. Chris Brooks would be on the practice squad for just about every other franchise in the league.

To make matters worse, the Packers' banged up offensive line can't create any running lanes. There's been a ton of talk about how bad they've been in pass protection, and we'll get to that, but they've been equally as bad against the run.

Packers running backs rushed just eight times against the Falcons for a grand total of 17 yards. For comparison's sake, Falcons running back Bijan Robinson rushed 29 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns...on his own.

The Packers are averaging 48.7 yards per game on the ground after three games. That's the worst in the league by a long shot.

What those numbers tell us is that Love has had no help, and that's where we get to the pass-blocking, which has been atrocious.

Love has been hit 20 times in three games so far this season. Per Zach Kruse, that puts him on pace to be hit an incredible 113 times, which assumes he'd survive a whole season, which is a wild assumption at this point.

Through three games, PFF has given the Packers offensive line a 41.7 pass-blocking grade and a 78.9 pass-blocking efficiency rating, both of which are last in the league.

PFF says this offensive line has given up 51 pressures and the 25 total knockdowns of Love are the most allowed through three games by an NFL offensive line unit in the past 20 seasons.

Love has been pressured on 44.4% of his dropbacks this season, and you're starting to see it in how he's throwing the football. There's a thing every quarterback has called an "internal clock," and Love's has been sped up to the point of him losing his accuracy. Against the Falcons, he threw several footballs in the dirt and missed a few wide-open receivers because he was rushing to get the football out.

And that's the last number we need to look at. Love is completing just 52.4 percent of his passes this season, so while he is throwing a lot and throwing for a lot of yards, he's been incredibly inefficient. 

He's got the worst completion percentage amongst all of the league's starting quarterbacks, and his name is statistically being lumped in with guys like Cooper Rush and Jameis Winston.

This is not good, but even Aaron Rodgers, known for his accuracy, would have a hard time completing over 55% of his passes with this offensive line.

Love deserves some blame for the struggles of this early season, but the story the stats tell suggests that he's simply a victim of the ineptitude in front of him. 

He's got no rushing attack and no pass protection. Even if he were the perfect blend of Rodgers and Brett Favre, no quarterback in NFL history could thrive in these conditions.
