NFL Insider Adam Schefter has shared an update on the NFL's potential discipline for Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs.
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has some question marks surrounding him heading into the 2026 season.
Jacobs is dealing with a groin injury, which will keep him out for at least a week, and still has an NFL investigation ongoing into his alleged domestic incident, which has the possibility of resulting in a suspension, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
That would be a huge loss for the Packers offense, as Jacobs is one of their best offensive weapons.
In the 2025 season, Jacobs rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching 36 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown. If Jacobs does miss time due to a suspension, it would be a brutal loss for Green Bay's rushing attack.
The Packers lost their second-leading rusher from the 2025 season as Emanuel Wilson signed with the Seattle Seahawks. That leaves Green Bay with a running back room of Chris Brooks, Pierre Strong Jr., and MarShawn Lloyd behind Jacobs.

If Lloyd misses time as well, Green Bay will have to rely on Brooks and Strong. Brooks has mostly been utilized in passing situations, as he's been a great pass blocker. In the 2025 season, he rushed for 106 yards on 27 carries along with 13 receptions for 91 yards.
Strong hasn't registered a rushing attempt in a game since the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns, where he had 108 yards on 26 carries along with 14 receptions for 104 yards.
With the unproven depth behind Jacobs, a potential suspension could affect Green Bay's running back room drastically.
The Packers are in their Super Bowl window with Jordan Love and Micah Parsons, making the 2026 season pivotal. Brian Gutekunst and the front office may have to look into acquiring another running back, regardless of whether Jacobs faces a suspension, to improve the offense.
