Desperate to solve a disastrous special teams crisis, the Los Angeles Rams turn to veteran Brandon McManus as a mid-season replacement.

Former Green Bay Packers kicker Brandon McManus has officially signed with the Los Angeles Rams, according to ESPN's Ian Rapoport.

News broke on Tuesday, Oct. 20, that the former Packers kicker was headed to the West Coast.

To say that the Rams have had a kicker problem this season would be an understatement. Special teams has been a complete disaster for LA, and while they also lost former Packers legend Davante Adams to the IR, it certainly didn't help that their new kicker, Blake Grupe, tore his ACL in his debut.

Heading into Week 7, the Rams now know they have a veteran in McManus who, for the most part, got the job done during his time spent in Green Bay.

Packers could face McManus on Thanksgiving Eve

Adams' injury likely means the Packers won't get to face him on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Green Bay doesn't have to play on Thanksgiving this season, but instead they're stuck playing the night before, and it was recently announced that U2 will be performing at halftime.

It'll be an interesting game, to say the least, and it's one that airs exclusively on Netflix.

Who knows what version of the Rams team will be around by that point, but they certainly haven't looked like an NFC contender through the first six weeks.

Green Bay moved on from McManus and took the lone kicker in the 2026 draft, Trey Smack. Smack has been nearly perfect, going 10-for-13 on field goals with his three misses coming from the 40-49 yard range.

For reference, McManus was just 6-for-11 from 40-49 yards in 2024-25 when he was with the Packers.

It was a relatively controversial pickup for the Packers, as McManus had a sexual assault case against him, but he was cleared to play in the NFL, and that's all that matters.

Here in 2026, he'll likely make his NFL debut in Week 7 when the Rams put their 2-4 record to the test against the 3-3 Las Vegas Raiders.

McManus spent 2014-22 with the Denver Broncos before going to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023.

He's appeared in 154 games throughout his career; to say he's a veteran would be an understatement.

Overall, McManus has a career 82% field goal percentage, and he's made all but 10 of the 384 extra points he's attempted in his career.

McManus is just 51-for-90 from 50+ yards, so it's clear the Rams won't be able to rely on him in that area like a team such as the Dallas Cowboys with Brandon Aubrey.
