Green Bay Packers Acquire Tight End in Deal With Rams

The Green Bay Packers have pulled off another trade, acquiring tight end Mark Redman from the Los Angeles Rams for a 2028 seventh-round pick.

Redman went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and spent his rookie campaign on the practice squad for the Rams. In the 2026 season preseason with Los Angeles, he hauled in six receptions for 63 yards. 

Redman had a solid collegiate career, hauling in 59 receptions for 641 yards and five touchdowns in two years at San Diego State. In his senior season at Louisville, he had 24 receptions for 256 yards and three touchdowns.

He could be a solid depth piece for the Packers and has played under a similar offensive mind in Sean McVay as Matt LaFleur, which should make the transition to the new playbook easier.

The Packers have now added two tight ends in the last week with Redman and the signing of Jonnu Smith. 

Smith will play a pivotal role as the second tight end as Luke Musgrave is on the PUP list with a neck injury. In the 2025 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Smith hauled in 38 receptions for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

He didn't have a major role in Pittsburgh, but was elite in the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins, having a Pro Bowl season with 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. 

With Smith and Redman added to the tight end room, Green Bay is set with depth behind their star Kraft. Kraft had a phenomenal 2025 season prior to going down with a torn ACL, as he had 32 receptions for 489 yards and six touchdowns across eight games.

He established himself as one of the best tight ends in football and excelled at getting yards after the catch.

With Josh Jacobs beginning the season on the Commissioner's Exempt List, the Packers will need to lean heavily on Kraft and the passing attack for the offense to be successful.

Green Bay has been active on Sunday, with the acquisitions of Redman and Kaleb Johnson as they look to pursue a Super Bowl in the 2026 season.
