The Green Bay Packers seek a fresh offensive mind, eyeing a young Arizona Cardinals assistant to help mold Jordan Love after a recent coaching departure.

The Arizona Cardinals and the remnants of their 3-14 season have been good so far this offseason for the Green Bay Packers.

Needing a defensive coordinator after Jeff Hafley left Green Bay to become the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, Matt LaFleur turned to fired Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon.

Gannon, who made the Super Bowl as the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles a few seasons ago, had a terrible run as the head coach of the Cardinals, but that in no way means he'll be unable to do his new job well in Green Bay.

In fact, there should be an expectation that Gannon will thrive now that all he has to do is focus on the defense. Even better, he just hired former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Bobby Babich to be his passing game coordinator and secondary coach.

There's a plan coming into place for Green Bay's defense, but offensively, the Packers just lost up-and-coming coach Sean Mannion to the Philadelphia Eagles' vacant offensive coordinator position.

LaFleur now needs to find someone to be in the ear of Jordan Love in 2026 and perhaps beyond, and reports suggest that he's looking back in Arizona to fill that position.

Cardinals' pass game specialist Connor Senger will interview for the Packers' vacant quarterbacks coach job. He'll interview for the same position with the Buffalo Bills as well.

For Green Bay, this could be the chance to replace an up-and-coming coach in Mannion with another just like him. The thing is, Mannion is 33 years old. Senger is only 30.

Senger is originally from West Allis, Wisconsin, and he played high school football at Pius XI High School. He was a scout team player at Wisconsin in 2013 and 2014 before transferring to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Senger started his coaching career as a quarterbacks coach at Wisconsin–Oshkosh in 2017 and he worked as an assistant at Carroll, Wisconsin–Whitewater and North Dakota State before joining the Cardinals in 2022 under the Bill Bidwell Fellowship.

He was an offensive quality control coach in 2023 for the Cardinals and was promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2024. Gannon promoted him once more, ahead of this past season, to passing game coordinator.

Most recently, Senger called plays at this week’s East-West Shrine Bowl.

As far as intriguing young coaches are concerned, Senger could be a wonderful addition for the Packers should the two sides come to a deal.
