The Green Bay Packers have signed a two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle in free agency.

The Green Bay Packers have been aggressive in retooling the roster this offseason. That trend continues as they sign defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a two-year, $23 million deal that includes $13 million in year one.

Hargrave is a two-time Pro Bowler and will be a key piece on Green Bay's defensive line.

The Minnesota Vikings officially released the 33-year-old on Wednesday before he signed with the Packers.

In the 2025 season, Hargrave appeared in 16 games, finishing with 52 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

He will be a solid interior and veteran presence next to Devonte Wyatt at defensive tackle.

Hargrave had the best seasons of his career while with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing under defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon. With Gannon taking over as the Packers' defensive coordinator this offseason, Hargrave will be familiar with the scheme, which could maximize his impact in 2026.

In the 2022 season under Gannon, Hargrave had 60 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

He adds to the Packers' pass rush outside of Micah Parsons and Devonte Wyatt. Green Bay traded Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys and allowed Kingsley Enagbare to walk in free agency.

That left a major hole for Green Bay's pass rush. Parsons is the leader of the group and one of the best defensive players in the world. In 14 games in 2025, he had 41 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

He was named an All-Pro despite not playing in the final three games of the season due to a torn ACL.

Parsons may not be back for Week 1 of the season, which makes the impact of the other pass rushers pivotal to their success.

In addition to the signing of Hargrave, Green Bay will rely on Wyatt, as well as young pass rushers Lukas Van Ness and Barryn Sorrell, to step into bigger roles.

Brian Gutekunst and the Packers front office are retooling the roster to compete for a Super Bowl title in 2026 and haven't been afraid to add veteran talent with the additions of Hargrave and Zaire Franklin.
