An important Tucker Kraft extension update has emerged.
According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, talks between the Green Bay Packers and TE Tucker Kraft on an extension are idle right now.
However, talks "certainly aren't dead," per Fowler.
"The Packers appear motivated to reach a deal with Kraft," Fowler wrote. "While talks are idle right now, they certainly aren't dead, and a lot can happen over the next 10 days. Most around the league, even on the team side, acknowledge the tight end market needs a reset. It's the lowest-paid of the 11 primary positions (special teams excluded), with the Arizona Cardinals' Trey McBride topping the market at $19 million annually."
Kraft is entering the final season of his rookie contract. Both he and the Packers have expressed a desire to get a deal done before the start of the season.
"I think it would be best if we got it done as soon as possible," Kraft said in July.
Kraft is coming back from the ACL tear he suffered last season on November 2 against the Carolina Panthers.
Kraft appeared in eight games last season and finished with 32 receptions for 489 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
The Packers selected Kraft with the 78th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The South Dakota State product has 113 catches for 1,551 receiving yards and 15 receiving touchdowns with Green Bay.
"He is coming off a torn ACL, which is a factor, but he didn't hold in, and he has done everything asked of him by Green Bay," Fowler wrote.
The Packers went 9-7-1 last season and lost to the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Kraft and Co. open the 2026 season against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Packers went 0-4 to finish the 2025 season. Micah Parsons tore his ACL against the Denver Broncos in Week 15. Green Bay didn't win a game after that.
It's time for QB Jordan Love to play like an MVP. Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract with Green Bay in 2024. He needs to be the MVP and superstar of the team and live up to that monster contract.
