Green Bay’s stagnant ground game receives a massive boost for an NFC North showdown in Detroit.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Green Bay Packers finally activated running back Josh Jacobs.
He's been added to the active roster from exempt status, and all signs are pointing towards him making his season debut on Sunday, Oct. 25, in Detroit.
The Packers are set for a huge NFC North showdown at Ford Field against the Detroit Lions. This is a Green Bay offense that hasn't had much going for them in terms of the run-game, but that could all change in Week 7.
Jacobs had a ton of heat on him for what transpired ahead of the regular season, but now he has to try and put that all behind him as he makes his season debut against the Lions.
In total, the Packers announced four roster moves, with the others below:
Every Packers roster move
- Wide receiver Coleman Owen was signed to the active roster
- Defensive tackle Jordon Riley has been activated off PUP
- EDGE Arron Mosby was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster
Jacobs is set to make his season debut
The 28-year-old last stepped on a football field when the Packers 2025 season came to a horrendous end thanks to the Chicago Bears.
That game left a sour taste in everyone's mouth, but Green Bay is off to a 4-2 start here in 2026 and Jacobs hasn't been allowed to be part of that.
There's still a chance his video could surface and further repercussions are issued, but for now, the Packers are fully operating under the assumption that Jacobs is back as RB1 through the rest of the season.
The former No. 24 overall draft pick ran for 1,329 yards in his first full season with the Packers, but that total fell to 929 a year ago as he missed a pair of games.
Green Bay knows they'll have to take it easy with a guy who wasn't able to practice with the team until Monday, Oct. 19, but they're hoping those couple of practices were enough to get the job done.
It's hard not to talk about how poor the offensive line was at the start of the year, and while this team made certain improvements, their running backs simply aren't up to par.
Jacobs is a few years removed from being the NFL rushing yards later. He's a three-time Pro Bowler and former First-team All-Pro, so if there was everyone to get them back on track, it's Jacobs.
