The Green Bay Packers have landed a big update about Micah Parsons' long-term status.
Heading into the 2026 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers will be without superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons. Of course, that isn't new news for the team, but there are still questions circling around his status moving forward.
Parsons, who tore his ACL and also suffered a meniscus injury against the Denver Broncos on December 14 of last season, has been expected to miss a significant chunk of time to begin this season. Some believe he could return as early as Week 6, while others are more cautious with a projected return date around Week 10.
Throughout his dominant career thus far, Parsons has relied on an aggressive style of play to get to the quarterback. There has been concern about whether or not he will look the same when he does return to the field for the Packers.
Despite the concerns, a big update has been shared.
One former NFL executive, who spoke to Packers Roundtable, believes that Parsons will not suffer lingering effects from the injury after his return.
"Micah is still going to be Micah," the executive stated. "With modern medicine, the ACL tear isn't going to be something that changes his career. Green Bay is still going to have its defensive face for years to come and he's still going to be the same game-wrecker he was before."
Not only did the executive state his belief that Parsons will pick up where he left off, he went a step further. He actually thinks that Green Bay will see an even more motivated version of Parsons.
"His entire career, doubters and critics have been a motivating factor. The trade from Dallas and his beef with Jerry (Jones) were already a chip on his shoulder. Now, he's going to have even more juice with so many questions about the injury limiting his career."
During Parsons' first season with the Packers, he lived up to the hype from the blockbuster trade. He ended up playing in 14 games, racking up 41 tackles, 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass.
At just 27 years old, the future is incredibly bright for Parsons in Green Bay. The injury was a disappointing setback for the Packers, but even with how things have unfolded, Brian Gutekunst would likely make the same decision he made to acquire Parsons.
Green Bay is clearly being conservative and cautious with Parsons. His long-term health outweighs pushing him to come back too early and risk another injury. When he does return to the field, Parsons is going to be a major driving force for the Packers down the stretch of the year and into the playoffs.
Expect to see Parsons get back to being one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL. The concern from fans is understandable, but the injury should be just a minor setback for an even greater comeback.
