The Dallas Cowboys just seem to be the gift that keeps on giving, with owner Jerry Jones’ comments on a local radio show.
Leading up to Sunday Night Football’s matchup between the Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers, there's an elephant in the room that the public is curious about.
Micah Parsons’ return to AT&T Stadium.
Prior to the season’s start, the Cowboys and superstar defensive lineman Micah Parsons got themselves in a very public standoff that lasted for months. Jones, who also serves as the Cowboys general manager, were in heated negotiations with Parsons and his agent, David Mulugheta.
Because of those contentious negotiations, Parsons publicly requested a trade on his social media profile.
It took Jones until a week and a half before Week 1 to finally adhere to Parsons’ request and send him off to the Packers for DT Kenny Clark and two first round draft picks.
Jones doesn’t seem to have any regrets though. He has his side of the story, Parsons has his.Jones doesn’t seem
When he spoke to 105.3 The Fan, a local radio show in Dallas, Jones was asked if the return of his former superstar defensive end provided an extra drive to he and the team.
"Of course, I've said this time and time again, I think the world of Micah as an individual, and of course, know him well. I might say, 'I wish him well,' except it's obvious I don't this weekend in terms of Green Bay winning the ballgame. And so, it makes for an exciting time."
He even said that knowing the style of play Parsons plays with, can become handy for the ‘Boys.
"Over the years, when I saw Micah mitigated, when I saw teams play him pretty well, which he's going to make some plays no matter how you play him, but when I saw people play us well with Micah in the game, and it did happen, then obviously, we'll be looking to try to run those kinds of plays."
Well the Cowboys aren’t the only franchise coming in with a full head of steam on Sunday night.
The Packers suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of the Cleveland Browns, where they blew a 10-point lead with three minutes left in the game and fell by the score of 13-10, and coach Matt LaFleur let his team hear about it.
For Parsons, he’s excited to take on his former team and get the opportunity to sack his former quarterback, Dak Prescott.
"It's going to be painful," Parsons said. "That's my guy. He was always like a good mentor for me. But you know how it is. He always told me if I ever faced him that it'll be a great matchup, so I'm excited to see what Sunday brings itself."
Kickoff is scheduled to take place at 8:20 p.m. ET / 7:20 CT, and will be broadcasted on NBC.
